Well, I know that it's a wonderful world, but I can't feel it right now. Well, I thought that I was doing well, but I just wanna cry now.

I was reading the results of a sex survey earlier. I think it was a couple of years old, but was collated from information from over 300,000 people.
The results were pretty much what one would expect, allowing for the fact that some people might have exaggerated their responses or even just lied.Considering I was reading about people's sexual preferences, like positions, fantasies, masturbation et al, the one thing that stood out to me was that almost sixty percent of woman who responded, said they would divorce their husband or leave their partner if it wasn't for their financial position.
Blimey, I'm not sure if I'm shocked at that or if it's kind of what I suspected.

In a conversation with The Girl tonight, the subject of 'Jelqing' (Link possibly NSFW) came up, to which she asked me if I was considering doing it myself. Yeah, as if! *Ahem*

Ha, interesting that the Blogger spell checker doesn't recognise "Jelqing".

Oops, not sure I should have opened that link on my work computer. I'll read it properly when I get home. It's a new one on me.

And it's no surprise about the 60% thing. I had a mate who always used to say that all women were whores. Whoring themselves for a home, car and kids. Not sure if I agree completely but the real answer may be somewhere in between.

Helo jaggy and welcome.
Yeah, I should have maybe marked the link NSFW. I better change that, just in case.
I don't think I was so suprised at the percentage, more so that that many people would admit to it. Give or take, obviously.

Well, as a female who has never had the primal "urge to merge" and have babies, a 3 bedroom house, and bookshelves from Pottery Barn" (ok, that's a partial lie–I DO covet the bookshelves)...I can attest that absolutely not all women whore themselves *or even just lie a lot) to secure a marriage, kids, house, comfortable income, etc.

Granted, I personally know a handful who do! And I know it's fairly common.

But not all of us do.
Some of us prefer to support ourselves and not be tied to anyone financially. With the U.S. economy in shambles, it's not an easy thing to do (those Pottery Barn bookshelves are pushed back to 2012).

I actually agree w/what you're saying (and quoting). Just wanted to throw it out there that some women get annoyed by the gold diggers & wish society didn't glorify/humor this whole "Bridezilla" culture.

It just perpetuates the ideal of "get married AT ALL COST!"

Uuugh.

Sorry for the rant.
I just wish we'd evolve past that mindset & let it be a choice; not a determiner of self-worth.

p.s. Jelqing?" Is that what you guys are calling it these days? Sorry. Joke obvious.

lovestevie,
Yeah, I can see what you're saying, totally.
I think I'm really lucky in a way. After mishaps, trials and tribulations, wrong paths and everything else that's happened in my life, I know I would never be with somebody for any other reason other than I want to share my life with them. And of course, not everybody thinks like that. Status, finances, not wanting to be alone and convenience, to name but a few reasons, all play a part in their mind-set.
Obviously there are people in relationships that have gone sour for many different reasons and they may find it very difficult, or even virtually impossible to get out them for one reason or another. But, in that sense, I was thinking more along the lines of people in abusive or dominated relationships. Not people who stayed in an unhappy relationship/marriage because of financial reasons. Ok, finances are important, but they aren't worth curbing happiness, surely!

lovestevie,
Oh, and when I first started reading about techniques of 'jelqing', I also thought to myself, "Well, that's just like a really slow, long winded wank." Changed my mind after reading more into it though.
It's an odd word, though strangely suitable for what it is.
