All we are saying, is give peace a chance.

So what is it that makes relationships go stale?

I think it is doing the same things all the time. You sort of get into a routine and then you realize, "Hey, this is boring." You can become too comfortable with a person and feel you know all there is to know about them.

If a relationship goes stale it is because it has come to the end of its life.

A relationship meant to last simply won't go stale.

Or so I believe anyway.

My first grown up relationship went stale because I was far more passionate and feely than the other person and frankly wanted sex daily rather than biyearly!

I think if a relationship goes stale it's because the two people aren't compatable any longer.

I'd rather that happen then be in love with someone and then get dumped out of the blue!

I don't think i agree that a relationship goes stale because it just wasn't 'meant to be' in the first place. I feel it's more to do with taking things for granted and getting into a rut, without really noticing what's happening until it's too late...but it's possible to get out of ruts ... if both parties want to...maybe it's when one does and the other can't be bothered that's the real problem?

(so, more or less what kimberly said - just a lot more rambling)

time for a good old pointless cliche...

"familiarity breeds contempt."

or so they say.

Ooh.

I think it's something about white light.

But what do I know?
What do I know?
I know.

For what it's worth, the women's magazines always talk about working at a relationship. I know I'm guilty of getting fed up, thinking there's something wrong, and moving on, when in actual fact a little bit of effort on both sides would probably have made a world of difference.

Does a relationship actually go stale? Or does it just fizzle out?

The idea that something goes stale implies that it goes 'off colour' or out of date. I suppose the way for this to happen in a relationship would be if you grew apart and developed different interests?

Even then i'm not convinced it qualifies as going stale...But then what do I know...i'm single!

I agree with "working on a relationship". I prefer to think of it as creating, having an adventure with the other person. They have to be more than just dates and hanging out, I think. At least that's how things led to marriage for me... that and one day I just knew that I'd walk to the ends of the earth for this guy, and it was no more than he'd do for me.
