Oh, look what you've done. You've made a fool of everyone. Oh well, it seems like such fun, until you lose what you had won.

Still breathing....
In
And
Out.

I'm pondering the question, "Is Blogging a form of exhibitionism and/or voyeurism?"

of course it is...

and I've gotten tired of punishing myself for it.

except, um, well, sometimes I give myself a judgmental lashing and then try really hard not to publish a post about it

Then perhaps you should just let go, fern.

it's been suggested before...haha

Both, of course. I have a similar question on my blog. But just because you're an exhibitionist, doesn't mean you care what the voyeurs think. And just because you're a voyeur, doesn't give you carte blanche to judge exhibitionists.

Must be. Makes me feel dirty and underhand. Still here though, eh!

Of coure it is! Without a shadow of a doubt. Also on some level quite narcastic I reckon. Even if it's on a twisted level.

Definitely both. It allows you to offer a window into your life, and to see into other people's. Of course, you only let people see what you want them to and vice versa. And I agree with Regina that it's extremely narcissistic - in fact any time I've told anyone I have a blog the first thing they've said is "God, how egotistical!" I don't much care - for me, it serves a purpose to write, and I enjoy reading what other people write too.

Don't forget escapism.

Sometimes blogging is all I have.

dune,
Yeah I saw that. I was gonna leave a comment on there, but by the time I'd typed it out and pushed the submit button, you'd disabled the comments. Too slow, once again.

sl,
No need to feel dirty and underhanded. You're amongst friends here. I think.

regina,
Nothing wrong with being a little twisted, so long as nobody gets hurt, right!

cat,
Interesting what you say, about when you tell people that you have a blog. I've never told anybody that I have a blog, probably for fear of them trying to find me.

duck,
Escapism, yeah. That goes without saying.

I've only told three people I have a blog, all of whom I trust implicitly. It was really hard when I found out that I'd been included in the big blog book because I desperately wanted to tell everyone, but couldn't!

bedshaped said...

cat,
Do you wonder how many other people they have told, who also know you?

Don't get me started on anonymity! But seriously...I agree–it's a bit egotistical, but at least it sort of counts as "literary" as opposed to just Girls Gone Wild pics of yourself flashing your boobs.

Oh wait...just remembered the NSFW post of yours I viewed before this one... :)
