Send a wish upon a star. Make a map and there you are.

Ahead of me is a great weekend.
I'm spending a few days with The Girl and if that isn't great enough, on Saturday night I'm taking her to see Sia play a gig. And if that isn't great enough, it's our two year anniversary.
It's gonna be a great weekend and I'm really looking forward to it.
So why do I feel so glum?!

I'm about to embark on another adventure, by selling up my house and moving up to be closer to her, so everything should be really exciting. And it is. But it's also frightening.
I'm in no doubt what-so-ever that I'm doing the right thing. It's what I want to do and The Girl is who I want to be with. Who I'd like to grow old with.
It's all the bullshit. All the bullshit that's standing in our way. That's what's bringing me down. I think because all of my focus is on being up there, I'm finding myself being weighed down by all the crap I have to sort out.

"Great Expectations (live acoustic show)" from Elbow.
*is this really about Edith Bowman?*

that is such a beautiful song.

I know it can be hard - but think how far you've come already....

um...maybe you ought to re-draw that image and title it:

Someguy and The Girl dancing on top of the Big Pile of Crap

I'm with Fern. when I saw the drawing I thought you should both have spades in your hands. Slowly but surely you'll get there. Oh and Happy Anniversary! x

Elbow are a superb band - and in fact, they're a superb band who I'm off to see next week. Hurray! Not sure if the new album is as good as the last yet, but not given it a proper listen yet. I'm very taken with the Young Knives album though, and I'm hopelessly in love with Cat Power, currently listening to "You Are Free", which unbelievably has Dave Grohl on drums.

Anyway.

Happy anniversary and good luck with that heap of shit!

(and would you swap Guy Garvey for that bloke from the Editors? Not musically... and what the hell is she doing with his hair?)

Remember, there are spiders in your room and there always will be.

Deep man.

beth,
Come a long way, yeah. I still can't quite get my head around how quickly two years has passed.

fern,
Perhaps I will re-draw it when I feel like it's not such a daunting prospect stuck in the middle of us.

treacle,
Thanks!
Slowly but surely, yeah.

swisstoni,
Somehow, I managed to miss the Elbow tickets. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
You really should give the new album some more listens. I loved their last album. This one, I think, is even better.

I've not got the Cat Power album, so I take it as a recommendation then. The Young Knives album I'm liking very much.

The whole Edith saga bemuses me.

"The Greatest" is the Cat Power album to start with. She's brilliant. Like female singers, and I guarantee you'll love it.

swisslet said...

..although the new one is good too (sorry, just assumed you were coming to Cat Power cold).

swiss,
Nope, I have The Greatest and I really like that album. I was a little put off by the fact her new album was all covers, but you've convinced me to give it a go.
Recommendations....Gotta love 'em.

"You Are Free" an earlier album of original songs, featuring people like Dave Grohl on drums and (!) Eddie Vedder on backing vocals, is also really good.

You got the Candie Payne album?
